Cadillac’s extended range electric car has barely been on sale long enough for people to realize it’s available, and it’s already being recalled.

General Motors’ luxury brand is marketing the Volt-based ELR as a competitior to products from BMW and Tesla, albeit not from a performance driving perspective. According to NHTSA documents, the company is recalling 656 ELR electric coupes becuase of a flaw with the vehicle programming that could cause the car not to notify its driver that stability control is disabled.

The software can inhibit stability control diagnostic systems in the car, which could prevent it from notifying the driver of the system being partially or completely deactivated.

The recall affects ELRs without adaptive cruise control that were built between September 26, 2013 and February 14, 2014. Cadillac will fix the flaw free of charge through its dealer network by recalibrating the electronic brake control module.
